About

Just a little bit about who the photographer is behind the lens.

I find this kind of hard to write about myself, what I like and who I am, but here goes my best effort.

I am an true 1st generation Ukrainian American! What does that mean? It means I was born over seas, in a European country. Sounds kind of sexy, doesn't it?  Actually, a little geography lesson here, Ukraine is located in the Eastern Europe, and was part of the USSR until it became independent country in the early 90's. As many of you know (at least I hope you know) USSR was a communist nation. So long story short, living here in the states, has been a true blessing. My parents have sacrificed so much to be where they are at now, and to raise us up to be where we all are now. So another point of this long geographic lesson is that by the blessing of God's mercy I am where I am only by His blessings. Which brings me to another point. I am a Christian. I try to live my life for Christ and follow Biblical principles in my life and try to raise my family in the Biblical truth. I have (what I love to think) a perfect family, on other words, I am blessed to have been married to my awesome husband for almost 11 years and to have two awesome children. Which I'll share a fear, I am always scared that I am not raising my children properly. I might think that its everyone's parents fear, however, in today's society I find it extremely difficult to raise my children with no support from the society.

If you read this far, your probably thinking, that I wrote all this and have not mentioned anything about photography. So now is the part that I will write the little blurb on my photography.

I loved taking pictures all my life. (I'm sure you've heard that before..) actually, its almost true. I was given a camera when I was kid, don't remember the exact age, and I loved to take pictures. At that time, everything was on film (ACK...did I just age myself?) so it was really hard not to take too many pictures because it cost money to buy film and then have them developed. I always wished that there was a camera that I could take as many pictures as I wanted and not worry about using up too much film. I guess God heard my prayer, and gave that genus idea to someone and then came the age of digital cameras! I didn't get in to photography until my sister in law was getting married. She requested me to take some pictures of her wedding. When I saw my work after the wedding, I was awestruck by my work and then other photographer's work and spent many and many and many hours searching and researching techniques and styles of work. I've followed other people's work for years. Which brings me to where I am at now.
Many might say  photography is their love or life....it might be true for them but its a little different for me. I live my life for Christ. I have a great supportive husband, that has suffered enough harassment from me to critique my pictures and be my subject in the pictures. My poor kids have suffered also due to my photography love. I really truly  love to photograph and in a different way, I would like to think that I can worship and praise my Heavenly Father through my photography. Here is why (finally): I love to capture the split seconds of life. The life that God gave us, the blessings in life, like those precious( not always so precious when your trying to put them to bed or when they are extremely tired, but that's another topic) children of mine, those moments of occasions that will never repeat itself. The milestones in people's lives, the tears, the laughter, the joy and even sadness. The smiles, the frowns, the journeys of exotic places (like the zoo or the jersey shores).  Those are the reasons, I love to photograph, to capture the a moment forever and to say "Our God is an awesome God!"

If you read this far, I give you a gold star!!! I love to be witty and giddy. I am a girl that wants to be a child in heart (even if I am pushing thirty). I love to smile, I love mexican food. Avocado is my favorite food to eat. And I love to learn and read.

So that's me in a nutshell! If you have questions about anything I wrote please feel free to post a comment or write an email at lzakusilo@yahoo.com I would love to chat with you.

Enjoy the following pictures of me...
