Family "A" Children Session

I had the great pleasure of photographing these cuties. I am bias because they are my nieces and nephew. We went to Tyler Arboretum in Chestnut Hill. I have never been there before but it was heavenly. The flowers were blooming, the grass well manicured and just enough clouds to make it awesome. The weather was slightly chilly however, we managed to still enjoy the day. Enjoy this preview!

2 year old spring photo session

I had a blast photographing this family again. This is the third time I photographed this little pumpkin. She's growing up so quickly!!! I always enjoy the time I spend with this family. The little girl is full of expressions and her mommy and I share all of our experiences as being nurses. This session was so much fun to do. It was slightly scary though because I did see a snake and I hate those things. So for the majority of the session I was slightly freaking out so that I wouldn't see another one. And here is her growing up so quickly: December 2012,  May 2013, and May 2014

What to wear for a family session ???

I get lots of questions about how the family should dress for the a photo session, so I figured I'd write out my opinion here.

1. The most important rule I can say is "BE YOURSELF" don't dress your family or yourself into something that doesn't match your personality. If you are the more artsy and eclectic style family, don't dress in suite and tie. Now is also not the time to see if you daughter will finally wear the cute headband that she cries hysterically over every time you attempt to put it on her. Dress in something that is comfortable for you. This is also not the time to test if a certain styles looks good on you like wearing  skinny jeans for the first time and your worried that you look bad. Its also not a good idea to start wearing 5 inch heels if that you've never done before.

2. With the above stated…it doesn't mean you should wear your everyday baggy jeans or yoga pants either…Its also not the time to just throw on a t-shirt for hubster with paint stains on the side…nor does it mean that a sweatshirt will look good either.

3. For the ladies: Wear some sort of make-up that is natural to you. Don't over do it with the heavy eye make-up and try to avoid shiny make-up like eye shadows and powders.

4. If you have a zit or any other facial blemish don't over do it with make-up either, sometimes its much more easier to photoshop it out then to try to blend skin tones.

5. Don't show up  wearing the same clothes: White tops with blue jeans… All black, white tops with khakis. Coordinate your colors.

6. Along with coordinating your colors, coordinate your styles. Don't show with 5 inch silhouettes heels with a dressy outfit if the rest of the family is wearing more casual clothes.

7. Avoid crazy and many patterns on family members… One pattern on one person in the family would look awesome.

Pick a color, and use different shades for everyone in at least one article of clothes for instance yellow. Dad can have a dark grey button down shirt, mom can have a mustered yellow cardigan under a darker color, daughter can have a brighter yellow skirt with a grey top, and the son can have a yellow and grey striped shirt.

Pick a style and stick with it. Decide are you going to go casual for a photo shoot at the lake, dressy for a photoshoot in the city.

7. Wear what is comfortable for you. Don't wear clothes that you have to suck in your belly, constantly tug on the sweater of pull up the straps. Also wear comfortable shoes for walking.

8.. I love props….If you have ideas for props or want to include something special with your photo shoot. Give me a shout earlier in advance so I can plan accordingly. Quilts, blankets, chairs, letters, signs, suitcases are all good things to use.

And finally:

Bring your personality.

Smile, dance, sing, jump, roll down the hill…what ever makes your family happy is what I want to capture…Its those  moments when I can capture the pure delight of your little one laughing while you make funny faces…The love that captured as you hold you baby in your hands…The emotions of the child closing your eyes with their tiny hands.  Your true personality is what will make your pictures perfect.

Happy Easter

Our poor little guy was sick all weekend, and since I'm missing church due to work next week, hubby volunteered to stay home with him while we went to the Easter worship service. It was such a beautiful day, unfortunately we weren't able to enjoy much of it since my son still was feeling rather lousy. My daughter on the other hand, threw a little fit about wearing Easter best before going to church, however, after several compliments she wanted to do a photo shoot. It provided a rather hard challenge since this is now 1pm and the sun was straight overhead with absolutely no cloud in the sky. This is the best as we could get in the 3 minutes that my son allowed me to be outside. Enjoy. Happy Easter to everyone. Jesus is Risen!!! Such a beautiful and amazing holiday!

Need to step up my game

I try not to get competitive…I really don't, but when my husband snapped this photo of me, I got a little jealous. I offered him to be my second shooter….he said he'll babysit the kids….

Here is a selfie of me… I was trying to capture my true self with my camera for a new business card I am currently working on. I think this one really captured the character.

And last by  not least, I am madly in love with this capture of my husband and son. My poor little guy was exhausted from a long day!!!

Wedding invitations

I recently went back through my blog and found a draft I never posted….Oops!!! Anyway, I did theses awesome wedding invitations for a friend a while a go, and I still hear lots of likes about these. The most awesome part is that We were able to write in Russian text. Here is what we came up with for the Russian invitations. The English version I think came out even better then these, but I don't have those pictures. The bow was an addition that the bride added. If you need invitations or announcement let me know!!!

Walking on Ice

Recently our area has been hit with sever low temps and lots and lots of snow. I'm definitely not a fan of snow or very cold weathers. Right before we got hit with almost 20 inches of snow, we had a little lul in the sever freezing temperatures that we ventured out to go to our lake by our house. The lake froze over. It was fun (and a bit scary) to be walking on the ice. The kids had a blast to have walked to the middle of the lake. Some people were even ice fishing around where we were standing and a few teenagers tried to play hockey. Scenes from my childhood replayed in my head as I walked towards the center. It was a little terrifying since parts of the ice showed a few cracks however, my husband reassured me that it was frozen stiff. We were able to enjoy the hour of peace and quite and warmth before the next couple of snow storm hit us again. Now to continue to dig out of our driveway. Enjoy!!

Still a nurse

I'm considered an essential personal at my work place. That means I still have to head into work wether or not I like. It means my one hour commute might take me 3 hours, but I have to plan in advance, I still have to make an attempt to get in. Its one of those jobs that's really rewarding,  but on snow days where I would love to have a snow day and stay home cuddled reading a book by my fireplace, I still have to get my warm nose out there and head in...This is how I feel, when I have to work in the midst of snow storms!

Winter Blues

Winter is not my thing...Its cold, bone chilling, freezing, and just blah!!! I am not a fan of winter, and I dread it. Don't get me wrong the first snowflakes are always the most mesmerizing nostalgic feelings ever. Christmas is awesome and one of the most anticipated times of the year, and the first snow storm of the year is always pretty awesome if I am at home and able to take a late night walk out with my husband. However, those are only a few things that really make me want to be so cold...on a regular day, you will see me bundled up in layers...when I say layers, I mean like two of everything including socks and pants....I looked like a stuffed eskimo. So even in these cold COLD days, I ever so hard try to make the best of it and enjoy it with my family. Here are a few of us enjoying the best we can the Jack Frost weather!

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge:

I had a really hard time in choosing the right picture to submit. Its so hard to choose since most of the subjects are beyond adorable, gorgeous, or just plain stinking cute! I kept going back and forth and decided to stop at this one. I really the enjoy the emotions and the expression on mom's face. I believe the best face always carries true emotions, happiness, and joy. The two faces in theses images are true emotions between a mother and son.

Winter Scene

I am not a big fan of winter, cold, and the freezing bone chilling winds. I prefer the shorts, the sun, the flip-flops and the heat! Once in a while though, its nice to see everything covered in a layer of snow, covering the black, grey, and dreary scenes, with a beautiful sparkly snow...then for just a few minutes I forget about the sun and the warm weather and enjoy the God's blessing of snow, winter, and cold.
